Bisser

Every year, Miramiro invites an artist to design the poster for the Ghent Festivities. During these festivities, the artist in question is also asked to create a mural.

In 2017, Miramiro invited an artist called Bisser, who later made a mural inspired by the 'neuzekes war' in Ghent. ‘Neuzekes’ or ‘cuberdons’ are a Ghent candy which is sold at Groentenmarkt square, among other places.  The salespeople were very competitive when it came to their products, so competitive in fact that at one point it even led to a trial and the conviction of one of the sellers.

Bisser is a Belgian artist born in Leuven who studied animation in Ghent.

He has been drawing all his life. His style was influenced most by his older brother as well as The Simpsons and the Kid Paddle comic book series. It was his brother who introduced him to drawing graffiti letters and this has been his greatest passion even since, even after his friend had introduced him to the spray can.

The magazine GraffBombz, among others, was a great source of inspiration for his typographic work.
A legal graffiti wall in Leuven gave him the opportunity to experiment on walls and in large format.  Letters became winding 3D lines.

He decided to completely change his style just before appearing before the final jury of his first year. His name was the result of the fact that he had to repeat his first year (‘bis’ means ‘twice’).
