Bué

A bit hidden in a side street of Wiedauwkaai, near the harbour, you can find a mural in the typical colourful style of Bué. Incidentally, the drawing got an update in 2021.

Bué the Warrior, aka Dave De Rop, grew up in a family of cartoonists: his father and grandfather both worked at Studio Vandersteen. This influence is still noticeable in his work, and he thus continues the family tradition. Just like in the case of comic strips and cartoons, Bué has developed his own accessible visual language via colour and positive energy.

This Ghent graffiti artist has been doing what he loves best for over 20 years: brightening up the streets and other locations that can use his art the most. With his colourful creations, he has left his mark on the streetscape not just of Ghent but also of other cities around the world.

By his own account, Bué is a real ‘street kid’, constantly looking for interesting spots to leave his art. He also enjoys working together with other artists and is not afraid to combine different styles.
