Dogshark

Dogshark is a cross between a land-living animal and a fish.
It is a reference to Ghent’s old harbour. Dogshark symbolises the land on the one hand and the water in the docks on the other hand.
The building’s users clean Ghent’s watercourses and thus form a connection between land and water.

Cee Pil refers to an existing species of shark and has created dogshark in his own personal style.

The pattern he uses to split up the image is a reference to a rectangular aquarium, another connection between land and water.

The colours used refer to the earth (the dog’s brown coat) and to the water (blue).

CeePil's work is all about the contrast between nature and culture, a bewildering view on nature and how men and nature live together. Instead of presenting beautiful pictures he wants to give his audience food for thought. His work has a certain surrealistic touch. He wants to show a calm and harmonious picture with an unpleasant connotation.
