Eenzaam ben je nooit alleen
You’re never lonely alone
This mural of a man carrying a smaller man on his hands is titled ‘You’re never lonely alone’. The work is intended as support for anyone who is sometimes struggling and symbolises well-being and mental resilience.
This street art originated in the interaction group ‘I’m never lonely alone’ which meets in the Bloemekenswijk neighbourhood on the initiative of the De Kaai neighbourhood health centre. Its aim is to provide people with tools to enhance their well-being. The Dr. Guislain Museum puts its objects or courtyard at the group’s disposal to facilitate discussions.
Artist Alien Christiaens created this work on the basis of interviews with staff and visitors of the De Kaai neighbourhood health centre. She and graffiti artist Pieterjan Boone were once in the same class and worked together during graffiti workshops for students of the Academy of Visual Arts in Anderlecht.
