Jafeth Gomez
In the passage under the gate of Coyendanspark the Colombian mural artist Jafeth Gomez created, in collaboration with people from the neighbourhood, a southern scene about climate problems and the power of cooperation.
Jafeth is a painter and muralist who enjoys worldwide fame as an artist. In his works he emphasizes ethnic, social, religious and cultural aspects.
In 2016, he was invited to Ghent by the Broederlijk Delen organisation.
The gigantic painting is part of the Wijkwerf initiative by Buren van de Abdij, EnerGent and many other organisations aimed at working together to improve the insulation of our homes. The Wijkwerf initiative contributes to the fight against climate change which must take place both in Belgium and in Colombia.
