Lindert Steegen
The square in front of the Albert Hein supermarket on Overpoortstraat used to be a grey corner. Now it is a very inspiring and colourful spot. The 200 m² pavement painting was created at the request of the owner and manager of the shopping centre in Overpoort.
Artist Lindert Steegen thought this was an interesting location for a new creation. "I noticed that people followed different trajectories here. I tried to represent them visually. Seen from ground level, it is both figurative and abstract. Seen from above, you see a beautiful composition. You can even discover a pigeon in the artwork.”
The pigeon is a recurring theme in Lindert’s oeuvre and symbolises freedom.
