Resto

The Youth department of the City of Ghent partnered with Wallin’ to create a child-friendly spot at Karel Rymhofplein square. Artist Resto made a design with large colourful planes which allow children to choose their own playing opportunities. The airplanes represent children’s fantasy and the ‘anything is possible’ principle.

The project didn’t go as planned: the first drawing already disappeared after a few weeks. This was due to the wrong choice of paint. In 2022, Resto did the assignment for a second time.

Resto portrays giants and crazy living machines in lively colours. They have become notorious as a result of their huge size and epic nature.
