Resto & Letterknecht

On 22 April 2015, the entire city centre of Ghent became a 30 km zone, which means that the speed limit was reduced from 50 km/h to 30 km/h in all streets within the R40 ring road. This measure was aimed at making Gent a more pleasant, safe and accessible city as well as at combatting global warming.

Resto (1961) took the Low Countries by storm with gigantic, loving, warped, modern and mythical creations that elicit gasps of amazement.
You can recognise his paintings by his use of vivid colours which he combines in various styles, and his always humorously painted giants or insane living machines, which have become notorious for their enormous size and their epic character.

Ghent DJ and street artist Letterknecht creates colourful murals with a message. The combination of manning turntables at night and painting during the day gives him energy.
