Siegfried Vynck
In 2015, football club KAA Gent (also known as “the Buffaloes”) won the Belgian Cup for the very first time; on this occasion, Ostend artist Siegfried Vynck created this mural in Buffalo style. It depicts a Native American chief dressed in blue and white, an eagle, a dream catcher and five large bison heads. The Buffalo theme is obvious to the inhabitants of Ghent, but passers-by who don’t understand the reference can enjoy the artwork too.
The owner of the building, an art lover originally from Ostend, wanted to have something special created on the façade and tell a feel good story in the Zuidbuurt neighbourhood.
The varied work of Siegfried Vynck is full of baroque, surrealist, pop art, manga and comic influences. It could also be described as highly personal and Original.
