Slim Safont
This work is based on a photograph that local resident and photographer Luka Van der Cruyssen took of siblings Ahmed and Aya during the annual neighborhood party. The children are wearing a badge that says 'Content in New Ghent' on it.
As part of the urban renewal project Nieuw Gent Vernieuwt, this neighborhood will undergo radical changes over the next 10 years.
Wallin' appointed the Spanish artist Slim Safont to carry out this work.
Slim Safont aka Slim Art always makes socially relevant work and was looking for new places to paint when he came to Wallin'.
The children and their potential to grow up to be what they want to be represent the new wind blowing through this social neighborhood. This project aims to bring a new energy, new hope and positive change.
