Vanitas

Vanitas (vanity, emptiness, transience)
Klaas Van der Linden created this still life for restaurant Het Pakhuis, just around the corner. Vanitas symbols (skulls, snuffed candles, wilted flowers, etc.) and night-time scenes are at the core of Van der Lindens oeuvre, which reflects on life in all its aspects.

Painter Klaas Van der Linden (Zottegem, °1986) depicts people and objects in bright colours, with the contrast between light and dark being essential. In addition to murals, he also creates paintings with a unique combination of acrylic and spray paint on canvas. He started with graffiti and street art at the age of 12, and studied free graphic arts at LUCA School of Arts in Ghent.
