CeePil's work is all about the contrast between nature and culture, a bewildering view on nature and how men and nature live together. Instead of presenting beautiful pictures he wants to give his audience food for thought. His work has a certain surrealistic touch. He wants to show a calm and harmonious picture with an unpleasant connotation.
This work in the Achtervisserij district is the result of a cooperation between Maarten De Smet (Loves) and Joni Van Nieuwenhuyse (Plur). The very bright colours are meant to breathe new life into the hidden footpath and to create a contrast with the many bare, dilapidated rear walls. They constitute a reference to nature and its beauty and complex colour patterns.
This work by Wallboys was created at the request of the principal of the musical school Melopee. In fact, the work is not ready yet. The intention is for 194 bubbles to appear on the wall. Each of the bubbles symbolises one of the pupils, who can make a drawing of themselves in their own personal bubble. This is a way for them to deal with the corona crisis while drawing. The bubbles will burst at the end of the wall, depicting the post-corona period.
This work is based on a photograph that local resident and photographer Luka Van der Cruyssen took of siblings Ahmed and Aya during the annual neighborhood party. The children are wearing a badge that says 'Content in New Ghent' on it.
Commissioned by Wallin', Cee Pil painted a life-size mural on the urban elementary school De Panda in New Ghent.
The mural is an eye-catcher for the entire neighborhood and fits into the broader story of the revitalization of New Ghent.
Vzw Jong wanted to make the façade stand out better and show with drawings what can be done inside the building. Different activities are organized but you can also go there to do your homework. Minyo incorporated these different elements into her drawing. It is a very multicultural neighborhood and in order not to fall into clichés she chose blue figures.
