ARRF/Arrf the wolf en Lobster Robin
Arrf the wolf had been working on this mural for some time when it spontaneously developed into a collaboration with Lobster Robin. They wanted to express some kind of duality between light and darkness, and above all create an attractive image for the local youth.
Lobster Robin and Pso Man had been planning to collaborate for a long time. Initially, they envisioned a one-day joint project. Once Rick from non-profit organisation Wallin’ heard about it, he pitched the idea of a much larger mural and a permanent project.
Dogshark is a cross between a land-living animal and a fish.
It is a reference to Ghent’s old harbour. Dogshark symbolises the land on the one hand and the water in the docks on the other hand.
The building’s users clean Ghent’s watercourses and thus form a connection between land and water.
Who is the king of the birds?
In English folklore, we find a story about the old world in which the birds one day decided that the one who could fly highest for the longest time would be crowned as king of all birds.
Ducks, blackbirds and smaller birds soon gave up while the eagle soared high into the sky without difficulty. Just when he was about to stop, a little sparrow flew up from between the eagle’s wings.
This way, the humble sparrow was able to beat the mightiest and strongest bird.
