In 2020, Ghent is paying tribute to Jan Van Eyck with the thematic year 'OMG! Van Eyck was here'. For this reason, the City of Ghent has invited several international top artists to embellish the city centre with a work of art inspired by the Ghent Altarpiece.
Ann Cardinael was commissioned by the city of Ghent’s Meeting and Connecting department to create a work of art together with the residents of the Sint-Baafsdorp neighbourhood. She painted a giant game-of-the-goose board as well as various farm animals on the pavement of a housing estate’s courtyard.
With its sleek glass walls, the new Fietsambassade bike point located beneath the De Krook library is a contemporary gem. But without a doubt, your eye will first be caught by the four colourful murals around the bike point. Artist Resto1981 adorned the concrete walls with real works of art.
