Korenmarkt 4, 9000Gent
Ayse Erkmen & Ann Veronica Janssens
After the Korenmarkt was redeveloped, two vertical artworks by internationally renowned artists Ayşe Erkmen and Ann Veronica Janssens were added. They are intended to position Korenmarkt square as a modern counterpart of the three historical towers and the City Pavilion of Ghent.
The façade of the Rainbow House building in Kammerstraat is decorated with a mural by illustrator Brecht Vandenbroucke. It reflects the activities of Casa Rosa and also makes the Rainbow House building stand out in the streetscape. The drawing measures 0.6 by 15 metres and extends to the left and right of the balcony over the entire width of the building. With this mural, the City of Ghent wants to make clear that Ghent is a LGBT and trans-friendly city.
Since 2015 Brabantdam has been brightened up by colourful murals. After the demolition of the building in between the two houses to reinstate the historical view of the river Nederschelde and the Krook neighbourhood two blank side walls were exposed. Both the interaction with their surroundings and the interaction between the two walls were key to this artwork.

The city organises an annual car-free Sunday in September to make room for a highly varied and festive programme. In 2018 the B401 viaduct was the place to be for art, food, music and sustainable dreams for the future. The organising partners wished to collaborate with an artist who sees the street as their studio and works on a large scale.

Kapow is an organic playground, a crossroad for creative souls. A safe haven for ideas and collaboration. It’s a magical umbrella, under which people huddle closely together and great things are bound to happen.
Kaarderijstraat, 9000Gent
Asit, Time, Venom, Mad Juice & Mista
Originally, during an edition of the BOM festival, a work entitled "E. Munch vs. Asit" was painted on this wall, but after several years, on the occasion of a neighbourhood initiative (Kunst bij buren), Asit was asked to redecorate the wall with a lighter design / colour palette.
Ghent is not only a culture city but also a student city. The artwork ‘Monument’ can be found in the stairwell of the underground car park at Sint-Pietersplein square and is dedicated to Ghent students. An abstract bookcase was added to the large, plain white wall with the books’ spines following the patterns of the concrete bricks. The mural is a grisaille painting of grey tones.
On the Sint-Veerleplein square there is a work of art hidden in two streetlamps. The work is titled ‘Ai Nati Oggi’ (To those who are born today) and was conceived by Italian artist Alberto Garutti. In this work Garutti proves he profoundly understands public space and attaches great importance to public support.
This is a project by De Gentse Tappers in Overpoortstraat, a street in the student neighbourhood that is crammed with bars and clubs. This mural has been painted on the rear wall of the archives of the Liberal Union, which explains the many papers.
