    Street art tour for toddlers

    Brugse Poort , 9000 Gent Diverse artiesten / Several artists

    Day-care centre Tierlantuin and the Rabot community workers joined forces, and the end result is a street-art tour for toddlers, peppered with stories written by local residents, parents of young children and young people from the neighbourhood. With this tour, they want to make street art accessible to families with young children. At the same time, up-and-coming artists get the chance to show their creations to a wide audience.

    AVL-man

    E3-plein , 9050 Ledeberg Atelier Van Lieshout

    The AVL man came to Ghent during the major open-air exhibition ‘Over The Edges’ (2000), and was subsequently purchased by the City of Ghent. In 2006, he found his home on the redeveloped E3-plein square in Ledeberg.

    Searching the Blue Bird

    Dorpsstraat 16 , 9052 Zwijnaarde Jamz

    The work is inspired by the well-known fairy tale ‘The Blue Bird’ by Ghentian Nobel Prize winner Maurice Maeterlinck. Its central theme is the pursuit of happiness, which is symbolised by a small blue bird.

    Gomad Graffix

    For the Goldmine project organised by Wallin’, Gomad Graffix created a beautiful mural in the Nieuw Gent neighbourhood. This mysterious woman called “Mother Nature” brightens up the neighbourhood with her colourful flowers and curious bird.

    Vanitas (vanity, emptiness, transience)
    Klaas Van der Linden created this still life for restaurant Het Pakhuis, just around the corner. Vanitas symbols (skulls, snuffed candles, wilted flowers, etc.) and night-time scenes are at the core of Van der Lindens oeuvre, which reflects on life in all its aspects.

    Pop-up wall

    Opgeëistenlaan 455 , 9000 Gent Han Coussement

    Han Coussement discovered painting after he had been arrested for graffiti spraying. As he was looking for an activity which allowed him to express himself artistically without getting fined, he registered for painting classes. Nowadays, he explores the boundaries between painting on canvas and street art.
